PCQE 15
(P)Dallas decides to go it alone and his decision will lead Ripley to assume command. (C) This happens when he enters the air shaft, while the others monitor his progress on a detector unit. (E)
PCQE - 13 - setting - De Ja Vu?
[E] - We see a close up of Kane and a close up of the dead alien in its chair. This image predicts that the same sort of ending will come to all of the Nostromo crew similar to what happened to the alien crew

Mise-en-Scene
Yellow flashing light against black, symbolises danger.
Dallas crawls into a dark, confined, claustrophobic, labyrinth environment.
Metallic iris shaped hatches close, conveying there is no going back.
Cinematography
Pull back shot as though we are leaving the endangered room.
Long shot of Dallas in tunnel, emphasising the long distance Dallas has to cover.
Close up of iris closing, emphasising there is no going back.
Darkness encloses Dallas creating scary, isolated atmosphere.
Close up of Ash looking interested as Dallas gets chased by Alien.
Close up of Alien opening its arms giving a vampiric embrace.
Editing
Erratic crosscutting is used through out the clip which creates suspense.
Sound
Fast heart beat can be heard which represents Dallas' fear also his heavy breathing again shows this.
Deep notes played on a cello create suspense.
The erratic beeps represent heart monitor - Dallas is near his ending.
Strings play harmonics creating eerie sounds which also creates suspense.
When Dallas is in tunnel speaks slowly with pauses emphasising he is scared.
All music stops - calm before the storm.

the rain and bright white light in the storage room are like sunlight and rain
when the camera pans upwards to the black chains with the alien swinging on them, we do not recognize it sraight away, as we haven't seen the full alien in this form before.
it seems to blend in to the mechanical surroundings
