cotrast between dark storage area below deck and the comfortable white cleaness of the upper deck
when ripley is looking for jones - camera is looking up at her, like we are hiding
camera tracks to follow ripley looking for jones - creates energy as if we are looking for cat too
cutting when jones jumps out creates energy and mimics ripleys shock
when the alien finds Parker and Lambert in the cargo area, Ripley is worried about Lambert, een though she doesnt know who is in danger at that point - not worried about Parker
PCQE #19
Cinematography
--------------
The camera tracks Ripley and Lambert as they move along the corridor. The camera angle shows
the last remaining crew members slowly moving round the space ship still heavily armed showing
that their fear is still present.
Mise En Scene
-------------
The director uses low key lighting to show the characters nerves and anxiety
in getting away from the Nostromo unharmed and safe. Ripleys heavy breathing and quick conversation
re-enforces her fear.
Editing
-------
The camera shows different prespectives as you see in front of Ripley as if she is
running towards you and also a point of view shot as she continues to run down the corridor
Sound
-----
The use of non-diagetic sounds also creates the sense of nervousness and importnce
of getting away safely. Strong language is used in order to show the seriousness of
the reality of this.
PCQE #20
Cinematography
--------------
The camera looking down on Ripley and also from a childlike view also gives the
impression she is endangered. The close up of the rape/murder of lambert deeply disturbs
the viewer showing the posibility of what could happen to Ripley as she is the only
female left on the ship.
Mise En Scene
-------------
The lighting on Ripleys face shows her isolation as she is now alone on the ship
with the alien.
Editing
-------
The cuts between the three remaining crew members increases the intensity and the
vulnerability of them.
Sound
-----
The non-diegetic music increases the suspense.
PCQE #21
Cinematography
--------------
The close up of Ripley furthers her struggle 2 survive.
Mise En Scene
-------------
The flashing lights reflect Ripleys actions showing the speed she must move in order
to save her own life. Ripley shouting at Mother shows her lack of repect and relationship because
mother won't help her. Ripley's destruction of Mothers machinery shows she won't let mother
and her Alien experiment beat her.
Editing
-------
The cuts between Ripley and the machinery shows her increasing frustration. The cuts between
Ripley and the timer increases suspense as does the non-digetic music.
Sound
-----
The non-diegetic music intensifies the remaining barrier has to cross.
