lighting is dim - quiet and relaxed
ripley is in white underwaer - contrast to dark mechanical environment and she seems more feminine and fragile
flickering light is annoying - reflects panic
when ripley puts on the space suit, she is wearng something mechanical and unfeminine again but it is still white, creating a contrats between her and the alien
